Single Women with Donor Sperm

Patients Suitable for Treatment

Our society is changing and, today, many single women are choosing to try for a baby without a male partner.

Similarly, same sex couples are also coming forward with the same wishes.

Bridge offers treatment programmes for both single women and same sex couples who fulfil the conditions set out in the HFEA Code of Practice. In particular, it is obligatory for Bridge to consider the provisions for the 'Welfare of the Unborn Child' in relation to every couple, or individual, whom we help to conceive. In fulfilling our HFEA obligation, we will seek your consent to contact your GP. Occasionally, Bridge's Ethics Committee is asked to consider a case.

The decision to go ahead with Donor Insemination (DI) treatment without a male partner requires considerable thought from many perspectives. Bridge supports prospective DI patients in every way possible and we do all we humanly can to make you feel comfortable with your decision and confident about the future.

Suitability for DI

As already stated, Bridge treats married and unmarried couples, also single women and same-sex couples who fulfil the requirements of the HFEA Code of Practice, specifically in relation to the provisions for the "Welfare of the Unborn Child".
